Zbyněk Baladrán

Bio

Zbyněk Baladrán is an author, artist and curator. He studied art history at the Charles University and New Media at the Academy of Fine
Arts, both in Prague. In 2001 he co-founded Display, a space for contemporary art, which in 2007 was transformed into Tranzitdisplay where
he is responsible for the exhibitions program. Together with Vit Havránek he curated “Monument to Transformation”, a three-year long
research project on the social and political transformations. He took part in the 11th Lyon Biennial, in Manifesta 5 in Donostia / San
Sebastian, in the 56th La Biennale di Venezia and Ocean of Images exhibition at MoMA.

From The New Theological Jokes follows the work of 2017 entitled From the Old Theological Jokes. A series of appropriated diagrams focused on the splicing of hidden patterns of human construction of reality and perception in general. Each diagram is intended to facilitate orientation in complex relationships between the displayed and final display. At the same time, they are the trapped in algorithmic loops of thought patterns, from which it is not easy or even impossible to get out.
